Drops of rain ram down in droves,

pooling into cloudy clumps

on sticky, muddy terrain

that’s terrifically, terribly sodden.

Yet the sound of those drops

brings tremendous

comfort to my wounded heart

that is yearning, craving peace.

Soggy outside.

Smug inside.
